To go along with our Sunday Sermon Series, the adult Bible study on Wednesday nights will use a guide entitled, "The New Testament You Never Knew", by Michael Bird and N. T. Wright. We all love to hear "the rest of the story." Come discover things you never knew about Jesus' baptism and journey into the wilderness, the meaning behind his parables and miracles, the significance of his death and resurrection, and how the transforming mission of Jesus can still turn the world upside down today. This study begins Wednesday, January 29th, at 6:15 pm.

Bring the whole family to chase away the chill of January with Hawaiian Luau Movie Night Sunday, January 26th at 5 pm. We will have a Lei for you to wear, some yummy snacks to share, and we'll watch Disney's "Lilo and Stitch" Movie!

Men, women, and youth are encouraged to attend one of two Usher Training Sessions offered during the Sunday School hour: either Sunday, November 17th, or Sunday, December 1st.

We would love to have more people serving our church in this way.

Sunday, November 24th at 6 pm: The church does all the heavy lifting... we’ll provide the turkey, dressing, rolls, gravy, AND cranberry sauce. We ask you to bring your favorite sides and desserts to share with others, along with a hearty helping of gratitude for all of your blessings. We'll take the time to name some of those blessings, and be thankful together as a church family!

On Wednesday, October 30th, children are encouraged to wear their costumes when they join us for supper. Fun Fall Festivities will begin right after we eat! Among other things, we'll decorate pumpkins and play Bingo. Friends are welcome!

We enjoyed this so much last spring, we are ready to do it again!

Join us on Sunday, October 20th, for an outdoor service at 10:45. (The 8:30 service will be held in the Worship Center as usual.) Dress comfortably, wear sunglasses, and bring a chair or a blanket - we'll gather on the lawn to worship surrounded by the beautiful sights and sounds of God's creation! This is a great Sunday to invite a friend.

The West Jackson Disaster Response Team will hold a meeting here at Parkway Hills UMC on Thursday, September 19th, at 6 pm
to help us learn more about working with a team.
A response team fills a specific need after a disaster to establish the caring presence of the church and to provide hope for the survivors. Through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)/ United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) partnership, you can serve with a team (typically 10-16 persons) or as an individual. Volunteers need to be in relatively good health, complete an application form, be willing to pay his/her own way or help raise team funds, and agree to attend training sessions conducted by the team leader prior to departure. Anyone interested in working with a response team is encouraged to attend!

Have a Ball with the Yarn Ministry!

Still looking for your place at Parkway Hills? We invite you to "have a ball" with the Yarn Ministry!

This is a joyful group who meet regularly in the home of a member to knit and crochet gifts of love and comfort. The group has created baby blankets, prayer shawls, hats and scarves, even socks and slippers! Right now, we are working on adult-sized afghans to cover those who are in need of a little hug from God. Work is done on your own time and at your own pace, but we love getting together to socialize, share patterns and tips, have a time of devotion, and pray over our finished items.

Our next meeting will be Saturday, September 14th, from 9 am to noon, or as long as your schedule will allow. This month we will meet at Rebecca Olack's house.

GROW in service as you develop a new skill to use for God's glory. We are happy to teach anyone who is interested! REALLY. ANYONE.

To wrap up our sermon series centered around The Table, and to kick off the beginning of our summer schedule, we are coming together as one to Worship at Table June 2nd. That's right, everyone from both the 8:30 and 10:45 service will share a time of fellowship, worship, and brunch at 10:00 am.

We'll have the juice, water, and coffee ready; we ask you to bring your favorite brunch item to share, and we'll all experience how God is made present when we are at table together! Be sure to sit with someone you need to get to know better!

The women of Parkway Hills will be working on a Habitat House May 18th! You may choose to sign up for the morning shift: 7:45-noon, the afternoon shift, 12:45- 3:00, or all day. But, sign up soon! If we can submit our sizes by April 5th, we can all have special WOMEN BUILD T-shirts!

NEXT Wednesday, May 15th, PHUMC will pack all the toiletry items, bottled water and snacks you have donated into 125 handmade drawstring bags for the men and women of Grace Place. Would you like to help? We will set up in The Garden assembly-line style at 9:00 am. Contact the office for more info. 

We are so proud of all of our graduates! Please help us recognize them on May 5th Baccalaureate Sunday! If you are graduating from high school, college, or graduate school this May, (or if you know someone who is), please let us know so we may honor them for this accomplishment. We would also be happy to recognize any of your classmates who do not have their own church home. Everyone should be applauded and prayed for at this milestone!
