"Who is Jesus and What Does that Mean for Me?"
This Sunday we begin a new series as we look at Mark 8:27-38. In this passage, Jesus asks the questions, “Who do people say that I am? Who do you say that I am?” The disciples respond, and for 3 chapters the Gospel of Mark works through this question; “Who is Jesus?” For the next 7 week, we will also ask this question as we move through chapters 8-10 of Mark. I love this section of scripture in Mark and look forward to sharing this time with you. Mark’s Gospel was written from within an early Jesus community within Judaism in the Roman Empire near the time of the great Jewish revolt and its aftermath. These passages from the gospel not only give a picture of who Jesus is, but call us to ask, “Who are we to be because of who we believe Jesus to be?” Come explore Jesus, what it means to be a follower of Jesus, the Kingdom of God, and the way.
